In 1982 The Conservation Foundation was formed by David Shreeve and David Bellamy to promote positive environmental news, awareness and action.
An environmental entrepreneur from the outset, for 30 years we have been creating original initiatives that have inspired and enabled thousands of people to engage with the environment.
Our projects are run as partnerships – with corporate and individual sponsors, government departments, media organisation, trusts and foundations. We also create and manage award schemes, awareness campaigns, publications and events covering a wide range of environmental issues.
We Love Yew
The Conservation Foundation are offering all LiberTea hosts the opportunity to apply for a free yew tree.
Great Britain has the world’s greatest collection of ancient and veteran English Yews in the world. They have long been a feature in our physical and cultural landscape, with many older than the Magna Carta, for which the ancient Ankerwycke yew is thought to have provided shelter for the Barons and King John.
We Love Yew will articulate the exceptional natural yew heritage that we hold, whilst the great stories from hundreds of veteran and ancient yews across the UK provide a stepping stone through which we can find out more about our local area’s wider heritage.
